NAET is a safe, painless and very effective method when it is practiced according to the rules and does not require the use of any prescription drugs. The application of acupuncture is optional because identical results can be obtained with acupressure. The Kinesiological technique used to test for allergies is extremely reliable and precise, and offers the advantages of a holistic approach. It can determine the level at which the allergy in question is imprinted in the body - physical, physiological or emotional (or a combination of all three). The testing and treatment of patients, who are very weak, disabled, handicapped or even in a coma, and infants and small children can be performed with the help of a surrogate (third person). Normally only one allergen is treated at a time, though sensitive individuals may need subsequent treatments for specific combinations of allergens. The allergen samples used for NAET treatments are contained in hermetically sealed glass vials (glass being a good conductor). A session lasts approximately 30 minutes (10 minutes for the treatment itself and 20 minutes during which the patient rests while maintaining contact with the allergen). The NAET method does not reject or disparage any other form of medical practice. It does not interfere with any other type of treatment. Patients are encouraged to continue taking their prescribed drugs for as long as they want to, this will not influence in any way the results obtained with NAET. However an NAET practitioner will ensure that his or her patients are not allergic to any of the drugs they are taking. If they are, they will require treatment to eliminate the allergy concerned. NAET can therefore be considered a complementary method to all other therapies and can be safely performed in conjunction with them. The following examples illustrate its complementary nature with allopathic treatments: HIV-positive patients receiving tri-therapy: this drug combination often causes allergies in these immune-depressed patients. Once these allergies have been cleared with NAET, the patient's response to treatment will be much better. Patients receiving chemotherapy: similarly, NAET treatment for chemotherapy will noticeably reduce typical side effects such as nausea, hair loss, etc. Insulin-dependent diabetics: a number of diabetic patients develop an allergy to insulin which can be treated with NAET resulting in much improved condition.
